Planned Rat Litters - first half of 2010
Our gorgeous ratlets are solely for purchase to pet and show homes. All ratlets will be well socialised with humans and other rats, healthy and of a suitable age, size and mental maturity to cope with relocation to their new home. A pedigree is included on request.
We reserve the right to refuse a sale to anyone we deem unsuitable for any reason, at any point during a sale.
Husbandry advice can be provided prior to or at the time of purchase and ongoing support will be available throughout the life of the rat. Should a rat that has been purchased from our rattery need to be rehomed, we ask that the owner contacts us so that we may source a suitable home. If we are unable to find a suitable home, the rat is welcome back at Sunshine Rattery.
Although we are located in Brisbane, we are sometimes able to freight interstate using Australian Air Express. Ratlets will only be shipped in same sex pairs or more, as travel is less stressful with company.
Planned litters are subject to change, based on the continued health of the proposed parents. To register interest in one of our planned litters, please go to the Contact Us page.
The four litters outlined below will go ahead, health depending. We also have a few more does that will need to be bred this year, but at this stage we have not decided on the most suitable partner for them. Once we have chosen the most suitable mate, Lucy, Otter and Emily will be added to this page. Keep checking back for updates!
Floss x RTS Bug - Pairing planned for April 2010
Floss is a silverfawn bershire silk rex. She has impeccable health and the sookiest personality for a doe. She has already successfully raised one litter, and due to the success will be paired up again in April before her retirement. She will be paired with Bug, a black blazed variegated berkshire. He is very affectionate and loves to be squished! He also enjoys fantastic health.
Aim of pairing: To produce ratlets which carry dilution genes and the face marking gene with improved myco resistance.
Expected litter outcome: As Bug does not to our knowledge carry any dilute genes, we expect the litter to be full of blacks and agoutis, possibly with small face markings. All babies will be single rex, and half of the litter will be silk. Half berkshire and half self. 100% will carry pink eye and face marking, 50% will carry Ruby eye and 50% will carry mink.
Staying at Sunshine Rattery: One silk buck and one silk doe, preferably with face markings.
SUN August x SUN Wilbur - Pairing planned for June 2010
August is a stunning blue agouti self, daughter to SUN Autumn. She will be bred to SUN Wilbur, a blue mink self, who is equally as stunning.
Aim of pairing: To continue our blue line and to further check for potential bleeding disorder genetic problems by inbreeding.
Expected litter outcome: Blue, blue agouti, blue mink, blue cinnamon and possibility of blue fawn, blue argente, blue buff, blue dove in self, single rex and double rex.
Staying at Sunshine Rattery; One doe, preferably ruby eyed and ticked.
Carawatha Tai x RTS Grub - Pairing planned for August 2010
Tai is a beautiful silk headspotted doe, who originates from our BEW line and Carawatha's silk line, both of which have fantastic myco resistance. She is a BEW carrier. Grub is an agouti blazed variegated berkshire rex with an outstanding personality, and is possibly a BEW carrier.
Aim of pairing: To continue our blazed line, and create blazed and BEW silks with improved Myco resistance .
Expected litter outcome: Agouti and black in hooded, berkshire and variegated berkshire,
face markings and
possibility of Black Eyed Whites.
Silk, rex, silk-rex and standard coats.
Staying at Sunshine Rattery; One silk, either BEW or blazed.
We are very much hoping for some wedge blazed and mismarked blazed ratlet like Daddy Grub, Great Uncle Hector and Great Uncle Hyde. Hopefully the rattie Gods will smile on this litter and gift us with some beautiful face markings.
SUN Henry x SUN Lottie - Pairing planned for October 2010
Lottie is a stunning mink champagne silk self, she is also a blue carrier. We plan to pair her with SUN Henry, a silverfawn self silk blue carrier, to produce a full pink eyed and silk litter.
Aim of pairing: To produce pink eyed blue and pink eyed blue agouti silks with improved Myco resistance .
Expected litter outcome: Pink eyed blue (silver), Pink eyed blue agouti, silverfawn and champagne. 100% of the litter will be silk.
Staying at Sunshine Rattery; Pink eyed blue silk and/or pink eyed blue agouti silk
This will achieve one of our colour/coat breeding goals, pink eyed blue agouti silk and pink eyed blue silk, making this a very exciting litter for Sunshine rattery!
